Houston’s Proposition 1 or “the bathroom bill” failed in a popular vote last night by a wide margin — sending a message of safety, hope, and sanity. The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance or “HERO” was a sweeping equal rights ordinance that would have included “gender identity” and allowed men access to women’s restrooms, locker rooms, and changing areas.
After HERO was narrowly approved by Houston’s city council it was met with public, wide-spread opposition. This win comes after a grassroots petition drive to bring it to HERO to a vote. Continue Reading
